Owl City, Sky Sailing

I think it's safe to say that Adam Young is a musical wizard! I discovered him under the moniker of Owl City back in 09 and fell in love with him shortly afterwards. He's one of those artists who are just plain different, the first time I listened to 'Fireflies' I didn't really know what to think of it but when I listened to it the second time I was surprised to find myself singing along to the chorus and smiling to myself; then and there I knew Adam Young was a friend. I think what gets me is that I love reading,

English and quirkiness and Adam could combine that all into one song! e.g. take 'Rugs From Me To You': Toupee or not toupee that is the question it refused to stay as it all turned grey Oh! William Shakespeare's receding hair! I love that in a world where music is just about glorifying sex, money and power; and music artists are losing their ability to actually use WORDS in their songs Adam enjoys putting in puns and using words like quip, insomnia and abode, which make people like me rush to find the nearest dictionary so as to enjoy the wittiness of his lyrics.
Well while I have been sitting around with a smug smile on my face, listening to Owl City, shy Mr. Young has decided to make an album of some of his previous work which he humbly admits he made in his parent's basement while they were away (better than having a wild party and getting drunk hey?). These recordings were created in between working at the Coca Cola factory loading trucks! The one track that has caught my utmost attention is a sweet, mellow love song by the name of 'Brielle'; I think the first time I listened to it I was in too much in shock from the difference between Adam's cute electronic beeps and the amazing acoustics I was hearing, the second time I listened to it I had shivers down my spine and the third I nearly cried! Please give Sky Sailing a listening http://www.myspace.com/skysailing

Little Dorrit!

Okay so we're up to the second half of Little Dorrit and I knew the story line so I was wanting to skip this part because it's so sad! So the Dorrit family are now rich because they have rich connections and so now the whole family is acting snobby except for Amy (little Dorrit) and her uncle who is on the far left. Mr. Clennam (Matthew Macfadyen swoon) who had helped them find out about their rich relations and who Amy has a huge crush on is now to lowly for their company. They all go abroad and Amy gets home sick she keeps in contact with Mr. Clennam through letters and he still doesn't realise she loves him! I love how he is so oblivious to this! It's too cute he's all "I'm old and boring no one will ever love me!" and Amy's thinking "I love him so much it hurts but he keeps thinking of me as a child!". Kind of Mr. Knightley and Emma chemistry. Next week they're showing the last part of it I'm so excited, don't worry I'll summarise it for you!

Awesome Person of the Week!: Audrey Hepburn

Need I say more?! I wanted to start off with the obvious, so Audrey was the first person who came to mind! Not only is she probably the most beautiful woman ever,  but she has the sweetest personality, definitely not Hollywoodish! These days you watch TV and go "wow! She's pretty", to some new, cheesy actress who's performance is probably generic as you get and is probably on the news for being in a scandal. Audrey on the other hand is just pure talent and grace, I mean she does a photoshoot wearing black pencil pants and a black turtleneck and looks breath taking! Take that Jessica Alba! Bet you couldn't do that!!! True elegance, beauty and grace is when you can take off all that make up and wear clothing that isn't provocative! And look breathtaking! What's with the skanky dresses these days? HELLO! Clothing is supposed to cover your body, do you hear me Miley Cyrus?! Sorry got a little off track there but anyways, the point is Audrey Hepburn is awesome!

Fashion Entry no. 1: L'wren Scott

The other day I typed in 1930s women's fashion, as you do; and came across this gorgeous picture!
This shot is from a L'wren Scott fashion show 2009 I think?! I almost instantly began salivating! I seriously believe that as time has gone by we've started dressing like total dags and the people around us who believe they are setting a good example fashion-wise by wearing as little clothing as possible (referring here to the trollopy clothing many girls at school sport and the trend of wearing as much foundation and eyeliner as they can afford!). This picture has given me hope! Hope that there are some people who still know the meaning of classy! (sigh) Why can't we all dress like they did 60, 70, 80, 90 a century or two even ago? L'wren Scott, I have only just heard of you for a day now but I take my hat off to you- that is if I had a hat on...
If anyone else has an opinion on the genius of the pencil dress please leave a comment!

Little Dorrit!

Little Dorrit has been showing on ABC1 in Australia since June; why must Australia get everything last?! I've been a big fan and I can't wait until sunday!

Well that's one thing to look forward to when you have CHICKEN POX!!! Not wanting to sulk but it's really annoying having to stay confined at home for days on end and I know this is gross but I haven't been allowed to have a shower for 5 days, I feel so gross! Man this is really horrible, why didn't I get the Chicken Pox when I was younger?!
:(

Hello!

This is my first ever blog so I plan to just treat it like a sort of inspiration folder! Things I will probably be writing about the most will be vintage clothing, books, period movies and raging over how youths these days are so ignorant and reckless! hahaha! (no, really I do rave on about ignorant teens who think they own everything, my friends get sick of it!).
